Penny auctions function on a bidding fee auction model, which indicates you will have to spend for each and every bid that you location, as opposed to classic auctions like eBay in which bidding is no cost. The price starts at $ and increases by 1 cent for just about every bid placed. The winner is decided when the clock runs to , but every bid increases the timer by a couple of seconds so as to give every person a chance at bidding. LAKE LOUISE, Canada, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Lara Gut captured her second straight Super G victory Sunday as the Swiss skier beat Liechtenstein's Tina Weirather by a fraction of a second in the final race of the Canadian World Cup event.
Gut, the Super G and downhill winner in Beaver Creek last weekend, won her fourth race of the World Cup season when she posted a time of 1:22.86 in the cold, icy conditions at Lake Louise, 0.03 seconds ahead of Weirather (1:22.89).
Austria's Anna Fenninger (1:23.19) placed third for her second podium of the week after taking the bronze in the downhill Saturday.
Elisabeth Goergl (1:23.64) of Austria was fourth, while American star Lindsey Vonn, skiing in her first World Cup events in nearly 10 months since injuring her knee, was fifth in a time of 1:23.71.
With the victory, Gut regained her place atop the overall World Cup rankings with 446 points, vaulting ahead of Germany's Maria Hoefl-Reisch, the winner of both downhill events at Lake Louise who finished 19th in the Super G.
After finishing 10th and 13th in the downhill events this week, Gut said she was happy to bounce back for a strong finish to the weekend.
"I knew that coming to Lake Louise was not going to be easy for me. Finding the right line and pace on the downhill course is still a big mystery to me. I was hoping that with the way I have been skiing this season, things would go better. But going into the Super G today was something different. I knew what to do, to ski fast, and it worked out," said the 22-year-old.
"Being in the top three in the overall standings is something new to me. I don't focus on that for now. If I start thinking about the overall title I will for sure be nervous on my skis. What matters is the way I ski and how I can improve."
Weirather, who won the silver in the downhill Saturday, got her fourth career podium in Super G by sticking to a course set by her coach. Last year she crashed at the Fish Net turn at Lake Louise and admitted she was a bit more cautious this time around.
"I was really careful coming into this specific turn this time," said the 24-year-old. "Once in the finish, I knew I had lost speed and a little bit of time there that would eventually cost me the win. That is exactly what happened, but I am for sure happy about the two good results of the week."
Vonn, who has 14 career podiums at Lake Louise, including sweeping all three races over the past two seasons, finished 0.85 off the lead. Despite her long layoff and best finish of the week, the reigning Olympic downhil. |
