BEIJING Byron Jones Youth Jersey , Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Beijing will formally submit the 2022 Winter Olympic Games bidding report to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Tuesday in Lausanne.

Chinese Olympic Committee president Liu Peng and Beijing 2022 Bid Committee president and mayor of Beijing Wang Anshun headed the team, whose presentation in Lausanne will weigh heavily in Beijing's bidding process.

The IOC will send an evaluation team to China in March before it elects the host city of the 2022 winter Games from either Beijing or Almaty, Kazakhstan on July 31 in Kuala Lumpur.

Beijing would co-host the Games with Zhangjiakou, a Hebei province city some 200 kilometers northwest of Beijing, if it won the 2022 bid.

Ice sports would be staged in Beijing while snow events would be held in Zhangjiakou.

HELSINKI, June 1 (Xinhua) -- The cohesion of the Nordic region was highlighted on Thursday when heads of state of all five Nordic countries met in Helsinki to celebrate the centenary of Finnish independence.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and Icelandic President Gudni Johannesson with his spouse Eliza Reid, were hosted by Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and his spouse Jenni Haukio.

Thousands of citizens and tourists crowded midday at the waterfront to greet the distinguished guests, who appeared on a balcony of the Helsinki City Hall before attending a lunch hosted by Helsinki's incoming mayor Jan Vapaavuori.

In his address at the Hanasaari (Hanaholmen) Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre, Niinisto said the Nordic identity dates back to the eleventh century when Christianity reached the area "in its western form." He said that "in the name of the Nordic way, a lot more can be done for the world."

The five Nordic countries formed a passport and labor union as early as in 1950s, well before the European Union introduced such openness in the rest of Europe.

Nowadays, citizens of the Nordic countries can choose to live freely in any of the five countries, and the social welfare systems are widely uniform throughout the area.

Finland and Sweden had a long joint history as one country until Sweden lost Finland to Russia in a war in 1809. Finland became an autonomous grand duchy under Russia until declaring independence in 1917.

KIEV, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) will launch a regular flight from the Ukrainian capital of Kiev to the city of Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, local media reported on Thursday.

According to the Center for Transport Strategies, the new route will open in the summer of 2018, serving three flights per week.

The route will be the second direct air link connecting China and Ukraine. In April 2015, UIA launched its first non-stop flight from Kiev to Beijing.

The UIA airline, which flies from its hub Boryspil International Airport in Kiev, currently operates over 1,100 domestic and international flights per week, with non-stop services from Ukraine to 38 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

BELGRADE, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Runaway Romanian millionaire businessman and former member of the parliament (MP) prosecuted for criminal acts was caught by the Serbian police in Belgrade, authorities confirmed Friday.

"Officers of the Serbian ministry of Serbian affairs have arrested (on Thursday evening) Romanian citizen S.G. (1978) based on arrest warrant issued by the Interpol office in Bucharest", Serbian police stated in a press release.

Romania's General Police Inspectorate (IGPR) also confirmed that the identity of the arrestee is Sebastian Ghita, former MP.

Ghita was charged by the National Anticorruption Directorate of Romania, and is being prosecuted in five cases in his homeland for influence peddling, fiscal evasion, money laundering, complicity to changing the use of EU funds, and corrupting voters during the 2012 parliamentary elections and the 2014 presidential elections.

He disappeared in late December last year and became unavailable to courts. On Jan. 10, the High Court of Cassation and Justice issued a European arrest warrant on his name.
